Riyaz Room ("Riyaz Room", "we", "us"), by SitarBug / 7 Source LLC, is a practice companion for Hindustani classical music — tanpura, tuner, tabla/metronome, a raga library, a practice streak, and, for enrolled SitarBug students, a private space for their recorded lessons. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
1. Summary
- The practice tools — tanpura, tuner, tabla, metronome, raga library and the Music tab — work without any account.
- An account (Sign in with Apple) is only needed to see your My Lessons and to sync your practice streak and history across devices.
- We collect the minimum needed for those features. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use any third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs.
2. Information we collect
Account information (only if you sign in) — Riyaz Room uses Sign in with Apple. When you sign in, we receive a unique user identifier from Apple, and your name and email only if you choose to share them (with Sign in with Apple, the email may be Apple's private relay address). On our server this identifier is stored in a hashed form.
Your synced practice data (only if you sign in) — your practice streak, session history and note counts (dates, durations and counts — not any audio of your own practice) are stored so they sync across your devices.
Lessons (only for enrolled students) — if your teacher records a lesson for you, that audio recording is stored so it can be delivered to your account and played in the app. Lessons are private to the student they are recorded for.
Student code — if you enter a student code, it is checked against our roster in a hashed form; the plain code is never sent to or stored on our server.
On-device only — your tuner audio, your own practice recordings, your instrument and appearance settings, and (until you sign in) your streak stay on your device.
Microphone — the tuner listens through the microphone only to show your pitch. This audio is processed on your device in real time and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
We do NOT collect your location, contacts, photos, health, financial data, or browsing history.
3. Where your data is processed
Account sign-in, synced practice data and lesson recordings are handled by our own backend running on Cloudflare (Workers and R2 storage) over encrypted connections. We use Apple's Sign in with Apple to verify your identity. We do not use Google Firebase, advertising networks, or third-party analytics.
4. How we use information
Only to sign you in, sync and show your streak and history, deliver your lessons, verify student enrollment, and maintain security. Never for advertising, profiling, or sale.
5. Payments
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store; we never see or store your payment details. Enrolled students' access is arranged separately with their teacher.
6. Notifications
Riyaz Room does not operate a push-notification service in this version.
7. Data retention and deletion
- On-device data is removed when you delete the app.
- You can delete your account at any time, right in the app — go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your synced streak, practice history and note counts from our server and signs you out.
- You may also request deletion by emailing kafihori@gmail.com; we delete it within 30 days.
8. Children and students
Riyaz Room is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. Some SitarBug students are minors; their lessons are recorded and shared only within the private teaching relationship, with the knowledge of the student and their parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will remove it.
9. Security
Sign-in and data access run over encrypted connections with access controls, and account identifiers are stored hashed. No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
10. International users
Your information may be processed on servers outside your country. By using Riyaz Room you consent to this processing.
11. Your rights
Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR/UK GDPR, CCPA) you may access, correct, delete, or export your data and object to certain processing. Contact kafihori@gmail.com.
12. Changes
We may update this policy; we'll revise the date above and note material changes in the app.
